Right yesterday, wrong today. This is the world we live in — and it confronts entrepreneurs and leaders with entirely new challenges.

The key challenge: developing teams and organisations into dynamically robust units that experience surprises not as a threat but as a resource — with people who take initiative, persevere and act in a self-determined way.

Essential Leadership earns its name because the 12-month programme is built on a deep engagement with the nature of people — from a neuroscientific perspective. Grounded in modern neuroscience on the „human operating system“ and in Luhmann’s systems theory.

Beyond „something new must enter my head“. First it's about unlearning: letting go of assumptions collected over our socialisation and thinking anew. Then: connecting our own ideas with the findings of science, deriving guiding principles and translating them into concrete practice — all the way to a self-learning state.

What Essential Leadership is built on.

The era of open, empty markets is over. Sender-orientation, planning and control have had their day.
Knowledge is wildly overrated. Today it's about dealing with the new and the unknown — and therefore with courage and creativity.
The „one best way“ is history. Iteration is the present.
The era of technical differentiation is over. Today, only people make the difference.
People and organisations are complex systems — which we often treat as if they were merely complicated.
Those who see and use the developmental potential in surprises will succeed.
Error is the rule, not the exception — and it tends towards what is right.
People unfold their potential when they are allowed to show their true self and experience (self-)efficacy in doing so.
Everything essential — trust, courage, creativity — cannot be decreed. It only grows from the inside out.
Self-organisation is the most effective form of collaboration — a natural phenomenon that emerges under certain conditions.
The effectiveness of methods lies in the milieu of their application — and thus in the mindset of those applying them.

Essential Leadership can lead people to truly take ownership of what their organisation is about — to take initiative, persevere, think boldly and act in a self-determined way. Exactly that may at first feel like uncertainty or loss of control — in rare cases you might be asked: „So what's left for you to do as the boss?“
